Christine O’Neil, Esq.
Attorney

When I was young child, I remember Christmas shopping with my grandmother.  While we were going down her list, I noticed she struggled to remember who she bought gifts for.  Soon after that I found out she had Alzheimer’s disease, and she declined rapidly.  After she passed, my grandfather was left fighting his own demon – Parkinson’s disease.

As he weakened, family ties strained from distrust.  Throughout this chapter in my life, I felt and saw what many families go through.  We worried about finding proper, professional care, and sweated over how to pay for said care, while balancing my grandparents’ desire to maintain the legacy they worked their entire lives to build.  As I grew up, I realized I wanted to help others who experienced similar situations and decided to pursue law.  For law school, I specifically attended Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida, for their Elder Law Concentration Program.  Most of my professional and academic development went towards strengthening my knowledge in estate planning, elder law, and probate.

I help families get ready for the phase in life where children become the caregivers to their parents; I prepare parents for the legal ramifications of their special needs child blossoming into a special needs adult; I assist the power couple who wants to protect their assets, while attempting to conquer their world. I get personal with my clients very quickly, console them when times are hard, and guide them through their legal quandaries, while giving them a sense of control.

After several years of practicing in this area of law under the wing of a board-certified Elder Law attorney in the Tampa Bay area, my husband and I realized it was time to move our family to his hometown of Milton, Florida, so that our children, Everett and Lorelei, could grow-up where the “great outdoors” is more accessible. While acquainting myself with this area and its emerald-coast residents, I realized I could provide a great service to this community, and thus, O’Neil Law, PLLC, was born. We strive to implement the best strategies for navigating you through tricky situations. I am here for you and your family’s estate planning, long-term care, and probate needs.

On a personal note, I was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. I graduated from Florida State University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. I met my husband, Jonathan O’Neil, at Stetson University College of Law on the first day of law school orientation (my maiden name is O’Shea, and we were seated in alphabetical order). We hit it off with our mutual love of historic architecture and preservation. My husband is my partner (both personally and professionally) and in our spare time, we love to travel, hike, and wander through museums. I also enjoy antiquing, collecting old books, cooking, and playing with my children. Because of the area of law I practice, I understand the importance of trying to find a work-life balance.

At O’Neil Law, we strive to implement the best strategies for navigating through tricky situations. I am here for you and your family’s estate planning, long-term care, and probate needs.
